Naxos: what's on March '11
Tonight (5 March) the torchlit procession through Chora, with participants dressed in white sheets, and faces painted black and white.
Tomorrow, the Carnival parade along the promenade. I last saw the Carnival parade many years ago - it must have been 2002, as one of the floats was about the end of the drachma. Greece has been using the euro since Another float I remember from that procession featured marble workers - and on the back of the lorry a chap was drilling away at a slab of marble with a pneumatic drill! Where else would you find a float such as that in a Carnival parade? I recall that float getting an exceptionally loud cheer!
